Fitness-for-Duty Exams

There are two principal reasons companies opt to evaluate an employee’s ability to perform the duties of their job:

• Establish whether they have made an adequate recovery following disability
• Determine why they may not be performing up to the standards of the position they hold

Health Resources is experienced in assisting employers with both types of evaluations. Those workers returning from disabling injury or illness are typically referred to and evaluated for job fitness by a specialist within our extensive network.

Assessing employees who have trouble meeting production benchmarks are typically more complex, since the reasons for substandard performance are not always readily apparent. For example, physical impairment or emotional distresses are just two of the countless reasons workers may underperform. Evaluation of such cases begins with a discussion with a board-certified physician. The company and the physician will plan the best path to evaluate the employee and determine his or her ability to perform the essential job duties.
