Health
Resources physician honored as Fellow of Occupational and
Environmental Medical
Society.
Jerry Berke, MD, MPH, FACOEM, Medical Director for Health
Resources in Woburn, MA. and former Director of Medicine and
Toxicology for W. R. Grace, is among 39 physicians selected
for the 2000 Class of Fellows by the American College of
Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), ), an
international society of 7,000 occupational and
environmental medicine physicians who provide leadership to
promote optimal health and safety of workers, workplaces and
the environment.
Fellow is the highest class of membership within ACOEM. It
recognizes individuals who have been engaged in the practice
of occupational medicine a lengthy period of time, have
achieved a significant position of expertise within the
specialty, and are certified by a medical specialty board
acceptable to the ACOEM Board of Directors.
ACOEM recognized Dr. Berke at the 85th annual membership
meeting in Philadelphia, PA, during the American
Occupational Health Conference, the world's largest meeting
of occupational health professionals.
Dr. Berke received his medical degree from the University of
Illinois, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine, Chicago in
1971, and his master's degree in public health from the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1985. He is a diplomat
of the American Board of Internal Medicine, certified in
internal medicine and the American Board of Preventive
Medicine, certified in occupational medicine. Chairman of
the Health Committee for the Society of Amorphous Silica and
Silicate Industries, Dr. Berke is also a member of the
American Society of Law and Medicine, the American Academy
of Medical Directors and the American Academy of Clinical
Toxicology, and Massachusetts Medical Society.
