Health Resources Advisory:
Recommendations on Testing

These are undoubtedly trying times for all of us. It is important to keep the risk of anthrax infection or bioterrorism in perspective, deal calmly and rationally with threats, not only real but perceived.  Most importantly let's go to the heart of the matter, which is the free-floating anxiety that many of us feel despite the absence of an immediate threat.  This is undoubtedly causing panic in the workplace and in the country.  We are all grasping for additional information on how to handle these concerns, which are increasing by the hour.  This is resulting in increased anxiety, panic and fear among employees.

Click on the additional Featured Articles to access some literature on anthrax that has been provided by Jerry Berke, M.D., M.P.H., FACOEM, Medical Director of Health Resources, suggestions on relaxing from stress from Barry Beder, M.S.W., L.I.C.S.W. our Vice President, Corporate Health and Productivity and EAP from Pat Dzindolet, RN, BSN, MA our Vice President of EAP.

We at Health Resources are a major provider of occupational health services and we have been inundated with requests from firms regarding anthrax testing.  We are suggesting to all our clients that serious consideration should be given before going forward with testing for this bacterium.  Our rationale is based on information forwarded to us from the US Department of Public Health and information that we have obtained through the medical community and Dr. Berke.  However, if after reviewing all of this information,  you may still desire to test your employees, please contact Deb Talbot (1.781.938.4615), Vice President of Occupational Health for evaluation of your request.
